First Horizon Bank IRONMAN Chattanooga, Part of The VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, to Celebrate 10 Years of Racing in 2024

– 2024 edition of the First Horizon Bank IRONMAN Chattanooga triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, to see over 2,100 registered participants converge in the Scenic City to compete on Sunday, Sept. 29

– New bike course unveiled for the event that passes throughout Chattanooga and Southeastern Tennessee area

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – IRONMAN has announced that it will celebrate 10 years of racing at the 2024 edition of the First Horizon Bank IRONMAN® Chattanooga triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series. Since the inaugural edition in 2014, this popular southeastern IRONMAN triathlon has become a staple on the global IRONMAN Series attracting athletes from around the world to race through the Scenic City’s welcoming community and beautiful backdrop. The tenth edition of the IRONMAN Chattanooga triathlon is scheduled to take place on Sept. 29, 2024.

Over the past decade, the IRONMAN Chattanooga triathlon has seen thousands of inspired athletes flock to the Scenic City to experience the rolling hills, scenic views, and unforgettable experience that Chattanooga, Tennessee and its surrounding areas offer in this popular late season race.

In honor of the 10th anniversary, the First Horizon Bank IRONMAN Chattanooga race is committed to making the 2024 edition the most memorable and inspiring yet. Athletes can expect new race experiences, enhanced participant support, and an electrifying atmosphere that celebrates the essence of human resilience. As part of these enhancements, IRONMAN and Chattanooga Tourism Co. have partnered with a local Chattanooga artist to create a commemorative 2024 finisher medal that embodies Chattanooga’s icons, culture, history, and a decade of racing in the Scenic City. The 2024 finisher medal will be unveiled soon.

Other enhanced IRONMAN experiences coming to First Horizon Bank IRONMAN Chattanooga in 2024 include pre-race and athlete material improvements, a Saturday practice swim, a photo hour at the finish line, HOKA Shake Out Run, nutrition and other race talks during the IRONMAN Village expo, and more.

New IRONMAN Chattanooga bike course unveiled

For the 2024 event, IRONMAN is also unveiling a new bike course for the First Horizon Bank IRONMAN Chattanooga triathlon. Athletes competing this September will experience more of Southeastern Tennessee than ever before while on their 140.6-mile IRONMAN journey throughout the region. Once out of the water, athletes will exit transition on Riverfront Parkway and head south to Martin Luther King Boulevard and on to US-27. Athletes will then head north through Red Bank and up to Soddy Daisy. Athletes will complete three loops on US-27 before heading back toward Chattanooga. The new bike course will offer a dedicated lane throughout the entire course, with great views and fresh pavement as athletes parallel the Cumberland Plateau during the ride. The new course will consist of 4,300 feet of elevation gain across 112-miles. Course maps for the new bike course can be found here.
