/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Expedicion Guarani in Paraguay offers the last available qualifying place for the last the 2023 Adventure Racing World Championship in South Africa in October.

Expedición Guaraní is far from taking a break after organizing their own triumphant World Championships last year.

The organizing team, led by the experienced Basque racer and organizer Urtzi Iglesias, is preparing to receive 80 athletes in the various race formats in the border city of Ciudad del Este. The ARWS category of mixed teams of 4 will include 10 teams in the main competition to see who can win the prestigious race title and go on to South Africa.

The 480km course is in 9 stages and promises a competition that is a little shorter than what the organization is used to and where, according to Urtzi, “the winner will arrive in under 60 hours”.

It will be a tough battle and without a doubt the strongest teams in Paraguay will be motivated, but there are three very high-level foreign teams that will make it difficult for the locals. From Brazil come Lagartixa and BOA, who had great results this year in the first ARWS Demo Race, finishing 2nd overall and first in the pairs category respectively. From Argentina, the ever-strong San Juan Aventura started the year placing 3rd at the South American championship and narrowly missed out on the podium at the PC12 Adventure Race in Colombia.

The race promises dense vegetation, streams with beautiful waterfalls such as Ñacunday, the possibility of crossing the border, demanding navigation that is the Guarani trademark as well as a passage through local indigenous communities. Add the incredible party that the Paraguayan raiders’ community always has, and we have the ingredients for another great Expedicion Guarani.

It will also be the debut of the renowned Spanish athlete Jon Ander Arambalza as the referee of an ARWS event.

The communities of Caazapá and Alto Paraná are expecting these athletes who already dream of raising their flag in at the finish line and the World Championship!

The race can be followed as usual on the Non Stop Aventura website with live race tracking at; https://nonstopaventura.tracktherace.com/en/guarani-expedition-expedition/countdown
