January 4, 2024
Flagstaff-Based Event Is the Brainchild of Acclaimed Running Author Matt Fitzgerald
Flagstaff, ARIZONA – January, 2024/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Dream Run Camp, a Flagstaff-based residential training camp for runners, today announced plans to host a special retreat for runner-writers in August 2024. Called Run, Write, Repeat, the three-night event will feature a combination of group runs, writing workshops, special presentations, Flagstaff sightseeing, and career development sessions.
The retreat is the brainchild of Matt Fitzgerald, creator of Dream Run Camp and acclaimed author of Iron War, Life Is a Marathon, Running the Dream, and many other books. Fitzgerald will be assisted by Emily Pifer, MFA, author of the award-winning memoir The Running Body and a doctoral candidate in creative writing at Syracuse University. Among the special presenters is Ulysses Press publisher Keith Riegert, who will speak on the topic of “What Aspiring Authors Need to Know About the Publishing Business.”
“I’ve wanted to offer a retreat for runners who write and writers who run for a long time,” Fitzgerald said. “Having launched Dream Run Camp in 2023, I now have the perfect venue for it. I can’t wait to see what kind of magic happens at our inaugural Run, Write, Repeat.”
To ensure that participants get plenty of one-on-one time with instructors, enrollment will be limited to the first twelve applicants. The $1,995 enrollment fee covers all group activities, food and drinks, local transportation, and signed copies of Life Is a Marathon and The Running Body. Attendees will be housed at Dream Run Camp, a luxury home in the Coconino Forest outfitted to meet runners’ every need, with amenities including a commercial-quality gym, recovery lounge, sauna, and spa pool.
