2024 Partnership Will Include Race Photos for Runners
Denver, CO /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Denver Colfax Marathon, presented by Cigna Healthcare, is partnering with CommonSpirit Health in Colorado to offer runners more resources throughout the race season. This new collaboration will give registered runners complimentary race day photos during the May 2024 marathon weekend.
“CommonSpirit’s support has allowed the marathon to continue its long-standing tradition of gifting runners memorable race day photos,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Denver Colfax Marathon. “The on course and finish line photos are a keepsake and a powerful reminder that runners achieved their goal.”
In addition to the race day photos, the Denver Colfax Marathon is grateful to CommonSpirit Health for providing the race weekend medical supplies. CommonSpirit is one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the country, with more than a thousand care sites across 21 states. On average, they serve 20 million patients every year.
“The Denver Colfax Marathon represents the best of our community and of our health, and as a nonprofit health system, CommonSpirit is committed to serving everyone – from the strongest athletes to the most vulnerable among us,” said Dr. Oswaldo “Ozzie” Grenardo, Chief Medical Officer for CommonSpirit’s Mountain Region. “We look forward to supporting the runners and the spectators on race day and wish everyone the very best.”
The Denver Colfax Marathon Medical Director, Dr. Jennell Kopp, will also give runners exclusive health related training tips leading up to the marathon weekend. Dr. Kopp has been treating athletes for 15 years, not only in her private medical practice under CommonSpirit Health, but as the Medical Director of Athletics for Denver University.
“You can’t just put in the miles and expect to have a successful training program,” says Dr. Jennell Kopp. “Just like any good recipe, it is not only one ingredient. All the ingredients – fueling, strengthening, proper rest, mileage, are all needed to have a successful race. If you just put in the miles and forget the other ingredients, you will struggle throughout your training.”
Runners can subscribe to the Denver Colfax Marathon newsletter for complimentary running related medical advice from Dr. Kopp. Her monthly column aims to prepare every runner, new and experienced, for their race day in May.
The 18th Denver Colfax Marathon will take place May 17-19, 2024. More than 20,000 runners are expected to participate in the city’s largest running event. You can register for a race at www.runcolfax.org.
