Delaware Running Festival Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Record-Breaking Success

Wilmington, Delaware – April 24, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Delaware Running Festival marked its 20th anniversary on Sunday, April 21st, at Tubman Garrett Park. Hosted by Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE), the event welcomed runners from across the nation, with participants representing 48 states in various races including the full marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k, totaling an impressive 2,500 runners.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival was the unique charity initiative featuring Wilmington Police Officer Zachary Rumford. Officer Rumford took on the challenge of starting the Half Marathon dead last, with a remarkable twist – for every runner he passed during the race, CSE donated $2 to the Wilmington Police Foundation. Officer Rumford’s outstanding performance saw him surpass 660 participants, resulting in a generous donation of $1,320.

Full marathon participant Carolyn Hoover, also known as Miss Delaware, shared her enthusiasm for the event. “This 20th anniversary was an electric celebration of everything Delaware has to offer, from beautiful views to an inclusive running community,” said Hoover. “It was truly a special event to be proud of.”
