Iconic ultramarathoner to act as an ambassador for the superior rest and recovery benefits of technologically advanced sleep solutions

TAMARAC, Fla. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Afloat, the creators of the reimagined and technologically advanced waterbed, have announced a new partnership with ultrarunner Dean Karnazes. Taking on the honorary title of Chief Exercise Officer, Karnazes will act as an ambassador for the brand, sharing how waterbeds offer a superior level of recovery for fitness enthusiasts and elite athletes alike.

Karnazes will be offering his insights by authoring articles, starring in the brand’s video content, as well as accompanying the Afloat team at trade shows and endurance industry events. As a part of their partnership, Afloat has created a unique opportunity for the public to interact with Karnazes through a video series called Ask Dean. Those wanting to have their questions about running, endurance, and recovery answered can visit www.afloatsleep.com/ask-dean.

Karnazes is a decorated endurance athlete and a New York Times bestselling author. His running resume includes winning the infamous Badwater Ultramarathon, the Vermont Trail 100 Mile Endurance Run, and the prestigious 4 Deserts Race Challenge. Karnazes has run 50 marathons in all 50 states in 50 consecutive days, competed on all seven continents, and twice carried the Olympic Torch. These accomplishments, alongside his many awards and his genuine joy for the sport, have made him a cornerstone of the endurance sports community.

“The challenge for me as a runner, especially as the years go by, is preserving myself. I’ve reconstructed my lifestyle to optimize health and fitness. This has involved diet, cross-training, workplace adaptations such as a standing desk and, of course, quality sleep,” Karnazes said. “The importance of quality sleep for recovery and optimal performance cannot be overstated. So when I learned of Afloat and the rebirth of waterbeds, I was intrigued by the possibilities. And now that I’ve been sleeping on one for the past few months, I can honestly say I’m impressed!”

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Dean, who knows a thing or two about recovery and its importance. Whether you jog around the block or across continents, sleep is your greatest tool for recharging and rising the next morning ready to keep moving in the ways you like to,” said Afloat Co-Founder Michael Geraghty. “Pressure points, spinal alignment, and temperature regulation are the key elements of great sleep and optimal recovery. Our reimagined waterbeds support these elements better than any other kind of mattress, and we’re excited for everyone, including endurance athletes, to feel the difference – both while they’re racking up miles and while they’re counting sheep.”

Afloat was launched in 2016, with the goal of reimagining the waterbed. Inspired by the past and looking to the future, founders Keith Koenig and Michael Geraghty collaborated with the original inventor of the waterbed, Charlie Hall. Over two years, they researched and developed a product that held the original waterbed’s greatest benefits while improving on its shortcomings. In 2018, they unveiled Afloat and have become known as the most innovative waterbed manufacturer on the market.
