Course Unveiled for Capitol Cup Pro/Am Races

February 28, 2025

Armed Forces Cycling Classic bringing Pro/Am racing back to Washington, DC

ARLINGTON, VA, February 28, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — Saturdays Capitol Cup race course has been unveiled. As part of the Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic, which takes place on, May 31-June 1, 2025, the Capitol Cup races will replace Saturday’s Crystal Cup that has been a part of the event the past 15 years.

“I am quite excited to be bringing a race of this caliber back into DC.” said Robert Laybourn, President of Arlington Sports and the Event Organizer. “I last promoted a race in DC back in 2001, when we hosted the Capital Cup, and because of the extension of the Challenge Ride course into DC, it was only logical to host the race to follow at the same location. With the course in front of the Capitol building, I thought it was also appropriate to make that subtle name change.”

The 1.4km course will be located between the National Mall and the US Capitol building, along 3rd ST, between Constitution Ave, NW and Independence Ave, SW. Saturday’s race schedule will feature the Women’s Pro/1/2 and the Men’s Pro/1 Invitational. Those fields will also participate in day two of the two-day Omnium in Arlington, VA on Sunday for the 27th Edition of the Clarendon Cup.

In additional to these featured events, the Capitol Cup will offer two amateur races and a free kid’s race. Visit our website to view both days courses HERE.

The Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic weekend’s activities offer riders, racers and cycling fans alike plenty of exciting opportunities to participate.
