March 6, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Participants will compete for 10 slots in the TORX eXperience 2026, granting them a place at the start line of “TORX Geants,” the iconic Italian event. This race is part of the qualifier series, representing the Catalan event.

After three editions of Spain’s longest trail running event at the 200-mile distance, participants will once again face a grueling challenge, covering over 320 km of trails, steep slopes, and forest crossings in the heart of the Mediterranean wilderness.

Distances of 200, 100, 50, and 25 miles will offer diverse landscapes and surroundings, crossing Muntanyes de Prades, Costa Daurada, Serra de Llaberia, and Serra del Montsant. Participants will also face an orienteering challenge, using GPS devices to navigate the route and reach aid stations.

Athletes from Spain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, South Korea, China, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Andorra, Israel, the UK, Poland, and India will make this the most international trail event in the Tarragona region and Costa Daurada, reinforcing the internationalization goals of Trail.cat and the organizing committee.

The weather forecast looks positive, though cold nights are expected, similar to the last edition, with temperatures dropping close to 0°C and reaching between 8-12°C during the day. Organizers will closely monitor the rain forecast to ensure participant safety.

“Covering the entire Prades Mountains with three simultaneous base camps is a logistical challenge for us, but thanks to the support of Prades and other regional municipalities, we can make it happen.”
— Lluís Yebra, Coordinator of Operations, TrailCat The Race

The race kicks off on the night of Wednesday, March 13th, to Thursday, March 14th, when the brave participants will set off to secure one of the 10 TORX eXperience slots and complete the longest event in the region, all while testing their navigation skills. Friday and Saturday will feature the 100-mile, 50-mile, and introductory 25-mile races.

“The event is our biggest logistical challenge, but this year, we have improved the Coordination and Safety Center, bringing in professional staff and implementing LiveTrail for GPS tracking and timing to ensure safety across more than 300 km of race terrain.”
— Dani Buyo, Race Director, TrailCat The Race
