Louisiana Marathon seeking Kids Move Champions to inspire and lead local youth groups

BATON ROUGE, La. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – As part of the Louisiana Marathon weekend, hundreds of local children are expected to take part in the Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon on Jan. 18, 2025. To drive participation and create community engagement, the Louisiana Marathon is launching its Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champion program. Through the Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champion program, adults will encourage participation in the race and help kids develop healthy habits, build confidence and have fun. Plus, they’ll have access to special incentives for their support. Those interested in becoming a Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champion can sign up online.

Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champions will gather a group of kids ages 5-12 and encourage them to sign up for the Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon, while also tracking their progress and reaching their recruitment goals. Any team that signs up 10 participants or more will receive a $250 donation to their organization. Ideal candidates will be involved with a school, youth team, scout troop, church group, or any youth-based organization, and will be interested in promoting active lifestyle and healthy habits. Champions will be provided with a toolkit to support them and their teams.

When Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champions recruit 10 kids to participate, they’ll receive a free entry into the Louisiana Quarter Marathon or 5K. When 20 kids sign up, they’ll receive a Louisiana Blue Kids Move sweatshirt. When 40 kids sign up, they’ll receive a $100 gift card.

Incentives are available for the children’s organizations that the Louisiana Blue Kids Move Champions work with. There will be cash awards for the top three groups with the most participants. To help their organization be a contender, it is important for those registering to identify their child’s organization when they complete the registration.

The Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon kicks off on Jan. 18 at 10:15 a.m. The run will take youth on a one-mile route starting at the corner of North 3rd Street and North Street and finishing on North 4th Street. Kids will receive a bib with an electronic timing chip, a parent bib that is used for child pick-up when the race is complete, an event t-shirt, finisher medal and access to the Finish Line Festival and Kids Zone.

The Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon is for children 12 years old and under. Kids over the age of 12 are encouraged to register for the Louisiana Marathon 5K. Both distances are friendly to walking. Parents can run with their children, but organizers encourage them to allow their children to run on their own for the best experience.

The Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon is part of Louisiana Marathon weekend, which was voted the best marathon in the state of Louisiana by Race Raves’ 2023 Best Marathons in the U.S. poll. The Louisiana Marathon offers multiple distances and events in addition to the Louisiana Blue Kid’s Marathon: a marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles), a quarter marathon (6.55 miles), a 5K (3.1 miles) and the Birth Center of Baton Rouge Diaper Dash (10 feet).
