CLASH Endurance Daytona Hosts 2024 USA Triathlon Long Course National Championships at Iconic Daytona International Speedway

December 9, 2024

DAYTONA, FLA. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/The iconic Daytona International Speedway played host on Dec. 6-8 to the 2024 USA Triathlon Long Course National Championships and a weekend full of family fun and competition from CLASH Endurance with varying distances of triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, kids races, cycling races and a festive 5K event.

Nearly 3,000 athletes from around the globe ranging in age from youth to 80+ years old tested their limits, with age group athletes also vying for 2025 World Championship slots during the USA Triathlon Long Course National Championships.

Supporters and participants alike enjoyed activities such as an expo, food trucks, live music and more during the festival-style weekend. Participants had the unique opportunity to stay on-site at the speedway by camping or renting and RV. Volusia County Sherriff Mike Chitwood and the Grinch kicked off the Jingle Jog 5K Friday night with a course through the “Magic of Lights” display and a finish at One Daytona.

Colder-than-normal temperatures forced the swim cancellation for some of this weekend’s events, but sunshine appeared both days despite the chill. Olympic Medalist, who also graced the cover of the Wheaties cereal box, Brooke Bennett, competed Saturday alongside Daytona International Speedway Event Mgr., Bryan Elliott who raced in honor of his Army Captain brother struck and killed while training last year by a drunk driver.

On Sunday, athletic duo Liz and her daughter, Summer competed to raise awareness in the importance of safe, non-distracted driving. Several intellectually disabled athletes participated today along with Guinness Book of World Records titleholder, Chris Nikic who is the first Down Syndrome athlete to finish an Ironman and raced showcasing his foundation, 1% Better.

Participants who raced at Long Course Nationals on Sunday, Dec. 8, raced in the Long-Distance Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquabike. Due to the low water temperature, triathlon races switched to a bike-run format, aquabike races turned into a bike race, and duathlon races (run-bike-run) stayed as is.
