Christopher, Dowell, and Sandoval Transfer to Elite Men’s BMX Freestyle Finals at the 2022 Urban Cycling World Championships
November 12, 2022
Marcus Christopher, Justin Dowell, and Daniel Sandoval will go for gold in the final round of the BMX Freestyle World Championships.
November 12, 2022, ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Justin Dowell (Virginia Beach, V.A.; Hyper BMX), Brian Fox (Commerce, Ga.; Woodward Camp), Daniel Sandoval (Corona, Calif.; Free Agent Bikes), Marcus Christopher (Canton, Ohio; DK Bicycles), and Jacob Thiem (Kennard, Neb.; Free Agent Bikes) all competed in the Elite Men’s BMX Freestyle semi-finals today at the 2022 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships. 12 out of 24 men advanced to the final round including Americans Christopher, Dowell, and Sandoval.
The team brought another round of exciting, yet calculated runs. Christopher and Dowell had great scores from their first runs solidifying their spots in the finals. Sandoval skied the quarter landing a little too deep in his first run and opted to let the time run out. He redeemed himself riding to a score of 88.50 getting a spot in the finals. Thiem threw down an incredible run, but was right on the bubble narrowly missing out on the finals by a few points. Fox was on a track for a great run until the last 15-seconds his hand slipped off the bar on a flair bar spin. It was all or nothing for his second run and the pressure was on. Unfortunately, he slid out on a 1080 ending his time at the World Championships.
Elite Men’s Semi-Final Results:
1. Logan Martin (AUS) – 90.50
2. Jose Torres (ARG) – 90.24
3. Daniel Dhers (VEN) – 89.84
4. Marcus Christopher (USA) – 89.80
6. Justin Dowell (USA) – 89.18
