Charge E-Bikes Cycle Forward with Backbone Media
April 5, 2021
Wilton, CT. Charge, the direct-to-consumer electric bike brand, and a brand of Dorel Sports, has partnered with Backbone Media as its public relations agency of record.
Charge, which is owned by Dorel Industries, Inc. alongside iconic cycling brands Schwinn, Cannondale, GT, and Mongoose, first came onto the scene in the U.K. in 2004, with a mission of making cycling accessible to everyone. The brand reached widespread acclaim in the cycling community for its offering of well-priced, durable bikes that are fun to ride. After many years of research and consideration, in 2020 Charge pivoted operations to the U.S. and relaunched the brand as an e-bike company.
“Charge has made it their mission to not only make the bike buying process easy and more accessible to more people but also to make people’s lives easier through owning one,” said Ian Anderson, Backbone Vice President of Public Relations. “Bike sales have skyrocketed across the country this year and Charge has an option for everyone, from the leisurely rider, to the commuter, to those who want to ride off-road.”
The company offers three different e-bike styles – City, Comfort, and XC, all at affordable prices and shipped in easy to assemble, sustainable packaging. Additionally, all Charge bikes have thoughtful features like foldable handlebars and pedals, automatic tire pressure sensors, and powerful motors that get up to 50 miles per charge.
“E-bikes are exploding in Europe and the U.S. is finally starting to come around to the many benefits they offer,” said Nick Larsen, founder of Charge. “We are excited to have the Backbone team help introduce e-bikes to more people and get more people riding.”
