Breakaway professional cycling union launches for men’s peloton

A new representative body for pro male cyclists has officially launched this week with the intention of securing top road riders a greater say in how the sport is run. The Riders Union is spearheaded by a five-member board including cycling agents Andrew McQuaid, Michael Rutherford and Thibault Hofer, and will push for a seat at the table when it comes to decisions regarding matters like calendar composition and athlete rights.
