Bike Industry, Mark Your Calendars: PeopleForBikes Announces 2020 Fly-In Dates
January 21, 2020
BOULDER, Co. — Continuing a commitment to connecting bicycle industry leaders with elected officials, PeopleForBikes is holding three legislative summits in Washington, D.C. in 2020 designed to advance legislative policies that make every bike ride better. These “fly-ins” highlight different industry sectors and voices, and bring more bike industry leaders to the halls of Congress:
- Retailer fly-in: March 24 – 25, 2020
- Women’s fly-in: June 16 -17, 2020
- Executive fly-in: September 22 – 23, 2020
2020 is a crucial year for bicycle policies and funding opportunities. The current federal transportation authorization expires in September, so PeopleForBikes is doubling down on its efforts to ensure that the new bill prioritizes programs that build our connected and protected bike networks. Improving safety incentives and expanding access requires a unified and consistent beat from the bike industry in Washington, D.C.
Our fly-ins bring together the entire bike industry, from retail to manufacturing to advocacy, and connect individuals from each to their elected representatives, providing the critical opportunity to talk about what matters most to the industry and to riders.
“Being a part of the PeopleForBikes lobby day reinforced and amplified my desire to continue pushing for policy that supports local infrastructure, recreation access and safer streets. These policies are good for our business, and good for the bike industry as a whole,” said Allison Straub, president of Burley Design in Eugene, Oregon and a participant in our 2019 Women’s fly-in.
Interested in learning more about our fly-ins or want to nominate a new participant? PeopleForBikes is looking for fresh faces, inspiring leaders, and longtime industry partners alike to join advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C.
