ANALOG RACING TEAM: Changing The Narrative in Women’s Sport

January 10, 2025

New Pro Women's Cycling Team Launches in the Pacific Northwest

January 10, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – ANALOG RACING TEAM is a new professional women’s cycling team combining creativity and slow living to produce fast racing. Based in the Pacific Northwest and racing a North American continental calendar in 2025, Analog is here to solidify a new era of equity in women’s sport.

A global spotlight is on women’s sports. Following a substantial boom in cycling during the pandemic, bike racing has experienced a spike in popularity and visibility among the general public. Elizabeth Vaags (Vancouver, BC) and Gabrielle Lehnert (Eugene, OR) are using this energy and their experiences racing from the U12 age group, to junior world championships, to the professional racing scene to create Analog Racing.

Born of a decade-long friendship between its co-founders, Analog Racing raises standards in women’s racing regarding pay equity, team professionalism, and healthy rider environments. These two 23 year-old women stand on the shoulders of many hardworking women’s teams that have come before. Deep professional racing experience and new degrees in architecture and design come together to position these two with unique tools and perspective, with which they will build a team that is fundamentally different from its predecessors

Teams have the capacity – and responsibility – to impact the entire community by prioritizing the holistic wellbeing of their athletes. Healthy team culture creates strong, resilient people and a powerful race squad. This commitment to a safe environment in which athletes can thrive leads the community toward equality and vitality in sport and beyond. Analog Racing plans to do this by:

  • Contributing to stable, viable career opportunities for elite female road cyclists in the Pacific Northwest
  • Celebrating and creatively documenting processes and stories as a team
  • Amplifying existing off-bike passions in riders to foster personal growth and a team DNA that both represents and benefits from the athletes as whole people
  • Positively impacting our local cycling community and land by engaging in local riding and art centered events as well as organizing creative projects

The word Analog refers to hand-made methods of creating, celebrating slow process over mass production. These methods convey a distinctly human, qualitative factor in the work. Their products have stories, and are meaningful, personal, and unique. Growing athletes with a focus on their health and long-term success is similar. Analog Racing celebrates its athletes as whole people, not just as a package of data, statistics, and results.

While the team has raised support to fully cover operational costs, they are now working towards being able to salary riders for the 2025 and following seasons as per our goal to impact pay equity and career viability in the peloton. The team is also working to grow awareness of its unique story and deeper funding to best support its riders in 2025 and beyond. Analog hopes to generate excitement through its art, zines and stories covering team racing adventures that will be released throughout the season as well as community rides and art events.

Their 2025 calendar will see Analog Racing reaching all corners of North America and attending races local to the Pacific Northwest. The team’s full racing calendar can be found at www.analogracingteam.ca. Riders and team management are available for interviews and community engagement.
