XTERRA Greece Victories for Forissier and Paties

April 27, 2025

VOULIAGMENI, GREECE /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – On April 26, the 2025 XTERRA World Cup made its second stop in Vouliagmeni, where the world’s top off-road triathletes took on the technical terrain of the Athenian Riviera.

Defending World Cup champion Felix Forissier (FRA) opened his season with a statement victory, winning the Elite men’s race in 2:21:18. “My race went pretty good, and I’m really happy with this as my first race of the year,” said Forissier. “By the second lap of the run, I knew I was strong.” Jens Emil Sloth Nielsen (DNK) pushed hard but settled for second in 2:22:13, while Arthur Forissier (FRA) rounded out the podium in 2:24:14.

In the women’s race, Alizée Paties (FRA) extended her perfect 2025 campaign, capturing the Elite women’s title in 2:45:03. “I didn’t swim so well; it took me a bit of time to get going,” said Paties. “But once I started the bike, my legs felt really strong, so I pushed hard. By the run, I was tired but kept pushing. I’m so happy I kept it up.” Anna Zehnder (CHE) finished second in 2:49:56 for her career-best World Cup result, with Marta Menditto (ITA) taking third in 2:50:28.

In the age group divisions, Quentin Audo (FRA) recorded the fastest AG overall time in 2:42:56, with standout performances by Maja Blümel (DEU) winning the women’s 20-24 division and Thomas Brunet (FRA) taking the men’s 40-44 title. “My favorite part is mountain biking, and that’s where I gained a lot of ground,” said Brunet. “The race was tough, but I managed to keep my position and pace during the run.”

Youth athletes took center stage in the Sprint Triathlon (750M swim, 15K bike, 6K run), with Adrian Zdrehus (ROU) delivering a standout win in the Youth B division. “My swim was just okay—I came out sixth or seventh—but my first transition went really well,” said Zdrehus. “The bike is where I caught up with the leaders. The course suited me perfectly, and I got some good speed. The run was tough with the heat, but I kept a steady pace right to the finish.”

The weekend wrapped up with the Kids Triathlon on April 27. Christos Geitonas, President of the Hellenic Federation of Triathlon, captured the essence of the festival atmosphere: “The kids’ race on Sunday is truly one of the most beautiful moments, and it is especially moving to see parents cheering and supporting the future triathletes in their efforts.”

Supported by Vari Voula Vouliagmeni Municipality, Trimore, the Greek National Tourism Organization, and local partners, XTERRA Greece Vouliagmeni once again delivered a celebration of sport, community, and connection with nature.
