/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – April 2025, Gilbert, Arizona — Jacky Hunt-Broersma, a professional ultra runner and Guinness World Record holder, has made history in March 2025 as she took on The Speed Project (TSP) as a solo runner. This remarkable feat will mark the first time an amputee has run the entirety of this grueling 300-mile race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas alone.
Jacky Hunt-Broersma, who earned global recognition in 2022 by running 104 marathons in 104 consecutive days, continues to push the boundaries of human endurance and inspire others with her resilience. An amputee since 2001, Hunt-Broersma has redefined the limits of athleticism, challenging perceptions and demonstrating that disability is no barrier to extraordinary achievement.
“The Speed Project is known for testing the absolute limits of a runner’s endurance and taking it on as a solo endeavor is a challenge that excites and motivates me,” said Hunt-Broersma. “This is more than just a race, it’s an opportunity to show that with determination, anything is possible. Being the first amputee to run this solo is both an honor and a responsibility, and I gave it everything I had.”
The Speed Project is a unique, unsanctioned race that traditionally sees teams of relay runners run through the harsh landscapes of the Mojave Desert, from the Santa Monica Pier to the Las Vegas Strip. The race, spanning approximately 300+ miles, is infamous for its “no rules” format, allowing participants to choose their own routes and strategies. Hunt-Broersma’s solo run pushed her through extreme conditions, including high desert temperatures, sleep deprivation, and the physical demands of continuous running.
Jacky Hunt-Broersma’s groundbreaking solo run will undoubtedly inspire many as she continues to challenge not only her personal limits but also societal expectations surrounding disability and athleticism. Her journey was closely followed by a global audience, eager to witness this historic achievement.
