Runners Turn the Streets of Downtown Chicago Green at the 44th Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle

Sold-out field celebrates the start of spring running in Chicago

Sunday, March 23, 2025, CHICAGO /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Thousands of runners gathered in Grant Park Sunday morning to kick off Chicago’s spring running season at the 44th running of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle. Featuring a sold-out field, more than 26,500 participants crossed the finish line on Columbus Drive on a cloudy, chilly morning. Gable Sieperda broke the tape, taking the crown in the men’s race in 22:52, while Amy Davis-Green defended her title, winning the women’s race in 25:31. Samantha Schroth and Angelo Perez won the wheelchair competition.

“It was great to see thousands of participants in Grant Park wearing green and starting the spring running season in Chicago,” said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski. “The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle brings the Chicago running community together in a unique and celebratory way, and is the perfect way to kick off the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Distance Series.”

Gable Sieperda of the Iowa-based Fitness Sports Distance Project made his move in the race’s final stretch on Roosevelt Road, breaking away from a group of four elite men to sprint to the finish in 22:52. Shuaib Aljabaly of the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project and Curtis Eckstein of the Working Man’s Track Club followed close behind, both finishing in 22:56.

Amy Davis-Green of the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project won the women’s race for the second year in a row, improving on her 2024 time by more than 20 seconds to break the tape in 25:31. Claire Green came in second in 25:56 and Anne-Marie Blaney, also of the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, rounded out the top three for the second consecutive year with a 26:04.

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle hosted the 15th Deloitte Elite Club Competition, featuring more than 70 elite USATF-member club teams from around the country. The teams competed head-to-head for a $30,000 prize purse. On the men’s side, Gazelle Elite won with their top four runners clocking a combined score of 1:33:49. Minnesota Distance Elite finished second in 1:34:30, and Fitness Sports Distance Project A finished third in 1:35:11.

In the women’s competition, Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project rose to the top of the podium with a combined score of 1:48:32. Nameless Track Club finished second in 1:48:45, and Front Range Elite finished third in 1:49:39.

This year’s Deloitte Elite Club Competition also featured a mixed division, with teams combined of at least two men and at least two women. Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project took the title with a time of 1:37:30. Brooklyn Track Club came in second in 1:43:30, and The Track Club Boulder finished third in 1:43:48.
