The 46th Annual Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon and Half Marathon Celebrates RRCA Marathon National Championship, a New Course Record, and More
March 4, 2025

Road Runners Club of America Chief Executive Officer, Jean Knaack, was on-site to welcome the winner
NAPA, CA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 46th Annual Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon and Half Marathon, which took place on Sunday, March 2nd, saw its largest field to date, welcoming 6,000+ runners to enjoy the beauty of Napa Valley’s Silverado Trail. Race day included a full marathon, half marathon, and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Napa 5K.
Favorable conditions made it a promising day for runners who had their sights set on a personal record (the course is famously known for its Boston Qualifying time potential), and for the talented pool of elite runners racing for a podium finish. This year, the marathon held extra excitement as it was named the Marathon National Championship event for the Road Runners Club of America. RRCA Chief Executive Officer, Jean Knaack, was on-site to hold the tape as Garrett Corcoran, a 28 year old from Salt Lake City, Utah, claimed the men’s marathon title and set a new course record with a time of 2:15:48. In the women’s division, Carolina Garcia, a 30 year old from Irving, TX secured victory with an impressive marathon time of 2:43:24.
In the half marathon category, Daniel Tapia, a 38 year old from Castroville, CA placed first in 1:06:25, and Abbie McNulty, a 29 year old Stanford Cross Country alum from San Francisco, CA earned her first place finish with a time of 1:13:30.
The race held several other compelling personal triumphs for local and visiting athletes, including James “Jim” Michie, who at 87 years young completed the course in 5:57:38 and Jonathan Pascual, a Napa-based ultramarathoner with Stage IV Mediastinal Paraganglioma, who completed his hometown half marathon alongside several friends.
Of the day’s success, Race director Michelle La Sala said, “It is wonderful when it all comes together. We showcased the beauty of the Napa Valley with perfect weather and fast times, but more than that, we offered our participants an opportunity to engage with us, our partners and vendors, our board of directors, volunteers, and our community. It was an incredibly special race weekend and one we hope to repeat year after year.”
Napa Valley Marathon, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, continues its tradition of giving back to the local community, including a scholarship program for local high school students. Over the last decade, NVM, Inc. has contributed over $500,000 back into the greater Napa Valley region. Thank you to all involved in making this year’s event a success!
