Los Angeles Marathon Partners with Strava to Host Together LA Wildfire Relief Run

February 26, 2025

Runners from coast to coast are invited to lace up on March 1 in support of wildfire recovery

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 26, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS is teaming up with Strava, the app for active people, to bring runners from across the country together for the Together LA Wildfire Relief Run. As part of relief efforts, Strava will donate $20,000 to support the Together LA wildfire relief efforts.

The nationwide event, set for this Saturday, March 1, is designed to raise funds for communities recovering from recent wildfires in Los Angeles County. All participants are invited to join relief efforts by logging their miles on Strava and tagging their activity using “Together LA” in the title, proving that every step counts when communities need help. In addition to logging miles to show support, participants can also donate to the Together LA Wildfire Relief Fund at https://www.mccourtfoundation.org/together-la/.

“Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint,” said Brian McCourt, president of The McCourt Foundation, which operates the Los Angeles Marathon. “More than ever, this year the Los Angeles Marathon represents a moment for all of us to come together and show that we haven’t forgotten those still in need. When runners unite, they create change and we’re proud to partner with Strava to harness that collective energy as marathon weekend approaches. Together, we can all make a difference.”

The Together LA Wildfire Relief Run builds on a national collaboration announced on February 20 between the Los Angeles Marathon, New York Road Runners (NYRR) – the nonprofit that produces the TCS New York City Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and the Boston Athletic Association – organizers of the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America. The four iconic marathons have joined forces through Together LA. As part of the initiative spearheaded by The McCourt Foundation, the four organizations are offering co-branded Together LA merchandise to aid those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles County.

Proceeds from co-branded merchandise and Together LA Wildfire Relief Run will support Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) and the California Fire Foundation, helping provide emergency relief and recovery services.

The virtual event is expected to draw thousands of participants from across the country and around the world, united by a shared passion for running and a desire to make an impact. Participants are also encouraged to purchase limited-edition Together LA merchandise, with proceeds supporting wildfire relief efforts.

The Together LA Wildfire Relief Run is the first event leading up to the 40th Los Angeles Marathon weekend, which will celebrate its 40th running on Sunday, March 16. To join the movement and make your miles matter, visit togetherla.lamarathon.com.
