Historic Bix 7 Road Race Digitizes 50 Years of Results Through Athlinks Partnership
February 10, 2025
DAVENPORT, IOWA. (February 10, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — The iconic Quad-City Times Bix 7 Road Race, one of America’s most prestigious road races, announces the completion of a groundbreaking project to digitize five decades of race results in partnership with Athlinks, the world’s largest endurance sports results platform.
This extensive project serves to preserve the rich history of the Bix 7 using a touch of the digital age. Previously, many historical results from 1975-1995 were only available in archived newspapers, making them difficult to find or view. Now, nearly half a million individual Bix 7 results spanning from 1975 to 2024 have been made accessible to athletes, fans, and historians with just a few clicks.
“This project represents a significant milestone in preserving the legacy of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 Road Race,” said Michelle Juehring, Bix 7 Race Director. “Thanks to Athlinks’ expertise, we’ve transformed fragile paper records into a searchable digital archive that will serve generations of runners to come.”
The ambitious undertaking required a sophisticated combination of human expertise and machine learning technology to accurately convert paper results into searchable digital records. Over 160,000 historical results in total were processed from archived newspapers and documents, adding to the race’s more recent existing digital records.
“At Athlinks, preserving endurance sports history is core to our mission,” said Nick Wiegand, Project Manager for Athlinks. “With over 415 million endurance results in our database and 2.5 million members, we’re proud to add the complete BIX 7 archive to our platform, ensuring these achievements are preserved for future generations.”
Athletes, spectators, and history enthusiasts can access the complete BIX 7 results archive at www.athlinks.com/event/180346. Participants can easily claim their results by searching their name on Athlinks.com and clicking the “Claim” button next to their result. For any discrepancies or corrections needed, such as name changes or misspellings, athletes should contact the BIX 7 event organizers directly through the event’s webpage.
