Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

This is a hybrid position and requires 2-3 days per week in the Boston office.

Tracksmith is an independent running brand. We honor the Amateur Spirit upon which the sport was founded and champion the Running Class – the non-professional yet competitive runners dedicated to the pursuit of personal excellence. As we continue to expand our presence in the marketplace, we’re looking for a dynamic and strategic CMO to lead and scale our marketing efforts and drive long-term growth. You will own the overall marketing strategy and e-commerce P&L overseeing paid media, in-house PR and sports marketing, influencers, and organic media channels. You will also work closely with other cross-functional teams, including Product, Retail, and Wholesale to align marketing initiatives with business objectives. This role demands a strategic visionary with a strong execution mindset, e-commerce expertise, hands-on leadership, and a passion for performance-driven marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Omnichannel Marketing Strategy Development: Develop effective campaigns and strategies across paid, owned and earned marketing channels, and direct the execution of marketing initiatives across e-commerce, retail, and wholesale, ensuring a cohesive customer experience across all touchpoints.
  • E-Commerce Growth: You will own the e-commerce P&L and be responsible for driving significant year over year growth in revenue while showcasing the unique Tracksmith brand DNA through the site experience.
  • Digital Marketing Excellence: Lead the full-funnel media investment and optimization to drive brand visibility, engagement, and conversion.
  • Brand Building & Awareness: Ensure the brand’s message is communicated consistently across all channels, driving awareness and creating long-term customer loyalty as well as new customer acquisition.
  • Creative Content: Ensure content strategy and the development of digital creative assets (photo, video, copywriting) provides cohesive brand messaging across all platforms.
  • Go To Market: Lead the go-to-market strategy and execution across finance, product, ops and marketing. Ensure effective communication and alignment across the key stakeholders.
  • Analytics & Optimization: Analyze campaign performance, using data and insights to optimize strategies, improve ROI, and inform future initiatives.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of marketing and e-commerce professionals, fostering a collaborative environment while ensuring high performance and personal development.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction across all touchpoints. Implement strategies to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a senior marketing role for a running, fashion, or active lifestyle brand, with a track record of successful brand management and growth. – Experience in event marketing, sports marketing, and or luxury/premium marketing is a plus.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&L responsibilities, with proven success growing e-commerce sales.
  • Solid digital marketing and e-commerce experience with a strong understanding of omnichannel marketing (e-commerce, retail, wholesale), market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, analyze data, derive insights, and make informed decisions to drive business results.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive marketing strategy and decision-making.
