November 28, 2024
Participants gathered for the last time this year at Bonelli Park for the oldest triathlon series in the world
LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The LA Tri-Series hosted triathletes of all experience levels at the third and final event of the 2024 series. The race, referred to as the “Turkey Tri,” took place ahead of Thanksgiving weekend, and was the only triathlon in California during the holiday week. Hosted in Bonelli Park, the course provided old and new triathletes an opportunity to participate in an open-water swim in a safe environment, to cycle on a safe route with little traffic and to run a well-supported, scenic course.
“This year, we wanted to bring a holiday twist to the final race of the LA Tri-Series, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome,” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces the LA Tri-Series. “Hosting the event around the time of the traditional ‘turkey trot’ season felt like a great way to offer experienced and aspiring triathletes the opportunity to participate in a festive event while getting in some great fitness in a safe and beautiful environment.”
Andrew Wales, the men’s Championship Triathlon winner, completed the 1K swim, 34K bike ride and 10K run in 01:56:28.2, followed by the men’s second-place finisher, William Reid and third-place winner Conner Macphee. The women’s Championship Triathlon course was led by Sydney Savarese, who finished with a time of 02:13:01.1.
