Caldwell University Senior Joey Datta Named USTFCCCA All-Region Cross Country

Set to Run at NCAA Division II Championships Saturday
NEW ORLEANS /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Caldwell University Senior Joey Datta (Union, N.J.) has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region team, the organization announced this week. Datta earned the distinction by finishing second at the NCAA East Region Championships in Rochester, N.Y. on Nov. 9.
Datta will compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif.
Datta, the unprecedented three-time CACC cross country champion, was named CACC Athlete of the Month for October. He set a meet record at the 2024 championship race by completing the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 14.70 seconds. Datta led Caldwell to a program-best second-place team result at the CACC meet. He has won five of the six meets he has entered this season.
He holds the conference track & field meet records in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs, and owns six combined school records in cross-country and track & field.
Academically, Datta maintains a 3.31 cumulative grade-point average as an English major. He earned the FAR Award of Distinction level on the 2023 CACC Academic Honor Roll, and is an NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary Scholarship recipient.
