A Community Tradition with Heart & Fun!
Healdsburg, CA – [November 18, 2024] /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Get ready for the biggest, most spirited Healdsburg Turkey Trot yet! In just over two weeks, the community will come together for the 12th annual Turkey Trot, a Thanksgiving Day event with a heart for helping local student-athletes achieve their college dreams. This year’s trot is packed with more energy, fun, and prizes than ever before, thanks to new surprises that make it a can’t-miss holiday celebration!
What started as a humble fun run has evolved into an all-out Healdsburg tradition, raising funds for scholarships that help students overcome financial barriers and attend college. This community-driven event brings together Rotarians, local businesses, and the Healdsburg Running Company, all rallying for a great cause LIVE LIKE DREW. Event organizers Susanne and Skip shared, “The Healdsburg Turkey Trot gives our students a real boost. It’s amazing to see how much the community cares and gives to help them move one step closer to their dreams.”
Kicking off on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Trot invites everyone – from competitive runners to families with strollers, and even furry friends – to join in on the 5K fun. Expect a lively crowd of 3,000 to 4,000 runners, walkers, and participants decked out in costumes, festive hats, and even turkey feathers. And new this year, our beloved mayor, DJ Hagel, will be spinning tunes from the DJ table, bringing a dance-party vibe to the start and finish lines!
“The Turkey Trot is more than a race; it’s a full-on community party,” said Skip. “From everyone singing the national anthem together to the costumes, live music, and dance breaks, this is a quintessential slice of Americana. It’s about celebrating, giving thanks, and having a blast together.”
The Healdsburg Turkey Trot remains one of the most accessible and inclusive events in the region, keeping costs affordable and offering free entries to those in need. This commitment to inclusion means everyone – locals, visitors, and participants from all over Sonoma County – can feel the warmth of Healdsburg’s community spirit.
Race participants will enjoy professionally timed results, festive green performance shirts, and post-race treats from Costeaux French Bakery. Top runners can look forward to exciting prizes, including Adidas Terrex shoes and fresh-baked pies. And everyone who joins can feel proud of giving back in a meaningful way.
Sponsors like Big John’s Market, Preston Family Charitable Fund, Pigs & Pinot, Healdsburg Running Company and Vanguard Properties are instrumental in making this event possible along with Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise and Healdsburg Chamber “Stay Healdsburg”. Thanks to their support, the Turkey Trot continues to raise crucial funds for scholarships, helping countless young people in Healdsburg pursue higher education.
