Cyclists Celebrate the End of the Season at Life Time Big Sugar Gravel presented by Mazda

October 20, 2024

Participants from 46 states and 16 countries cross the finish line at the sold-out race

Bentonville, Ark. (October 20, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Following an action-packed week of events and celebration, the Life Time Big Sugar Classic concluded yesterday with the Life Time Big Sugar Gravel presented by Mazda. Nearly 2,000 participants traveled from around the world to race, ride and experience the world-class cycling destination of Bentonville, Arkansas. From Olympians and world champions to weekend warriors, the Big Sugar Classic had something for everyone.

Riders were welcomed to the gravel roads of Northwest Arkansas to take on the 50- and 100-mile races, as well as an inaugural 25-mile ride and the Kids Crit on Friday. At the finish line, participants were met with a farmers’ market and a finish festival in Bentonville City Square. Later in the evening, riders, families and community members were invited to the ultimate after-party, the Gravel Rave, to celebrate the day’s accomplishments and the end of the off-road season.

Of Saturday’s finishers, more than 215 were Bentonville locals – a testament to the strength of the hometown cycling community. For some participants, this was their second weekend of racing in Bentonville, as more than 200 brave cyclists took on the Sweet Tooth Challenge, participating in both the Little Sugar MTB and Big Sugar Gravel on back-to-back weekends.

The Life Time Big Sugar Gravel marked the end of the 2024 Life Time Grand Prix series, where Sofia Gomez Villafane and Keegan Swenson were crowned the winners, and a podium of some of the world’s top professional men and women cyclists split the $300,000 prize purse.

“The energy of the Life Time Big Sugar Gravel is absolutely contagious,” shared Michelle Duffy, Senior Marketing Director for Life Time Events. “While it does mark the ending of the season, the celebration is bigger and better each year, and we have both the community of Northwest Arkansas and the cycling community that travels here to thank for that.”
