This year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the addition of a prize purse for top finishers, the involvement of the ThriVets program, and a new Half Marathon Relay option.

San Diego, CA – October 10, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The annual Kaiser Permanente Thrive Half Marathon & 5K returns to San Diego on Saturday, November 2nd, offering runners an unforgettable race through Mission Bay’s scenic waterfront. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the addition of a prize purse for top finishers, the involvement of the ThriVets program, and a new Half Marathon Relay option for those looking to team up and tackle the half marathon course together. All proceeds from donations will go directly to support Make-A-Wish San Diego, adding a meaningful purpose to every mile run.

All of the race courses kick off at Ski Beach, guiding participants through a stunning flat and fast course that highlights the natural beauty of Mission Bay. Runners will enjoy scenic views of the bay, beaches, and surrounding parkland as they push towards the finish line.

New Course Addition: Half Marathon Relay

New this year, the Half Marathon Relay allows friends to split the distance, each running 6 miles and finishing the race together. This unique option offers a fun and rewarding way to experience the half marathon with a partner, encouraging camaraderie and teamwork.

ThriVets: Honoring Our Heroes

A highlight of this year’s event is the introduction of ThriVets: Honoring Our Heroes, a special running experience exclusively for active-duty military and veterans. In line with Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to promoting health and wellness within the veteran community, all active-duty military and veterans will receive a 15% discount on race registrations and an exclusive medal to add to their race finisher medal. Veterans can verify their status through GOVX to receive a promo code for the discount. Additionally, special awards will be given to the top 3 finishers within this group.
