An apparel collaboration between Ciele’s conceptual lab and designer Colin Meredith

MONTREAL (Oct. 3, 2024) ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE — Performance running brand Ciele Athletics is proud to announce the debut joint adventure from its conceptual lab, gry^©, and multidisciplinary creator, designer and adventurer Colin Meredith. This collaboration, inspired by Meredith’s own running and adventure needs in Vancouver, British Columbia, presents a collection of highly functional, layerable apparel and caps built to withstand the elements and ensure seamless running performance through all seasons.

gry^© is the little-known creative offshoot of Ciele Athletics, a conceptual lab for untested ideas, experimental techniques and radical, innovative styles that often lay the foundation for the future of Ciele’s design language. With a design process deeply rooted in experimentation, and as an avid runner, cyclist, adventurer and designer himself, Meredith was a fitting choice for Ciele’s first gry^© collection, embodying the spirit of gry^© with his visionary approach. Based in Vancouver, Meredith has established a reputation for his one-of-a-kind garments and technical patterns. His work, which has been showcased at Montreal’s Place des Arts and Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal, includes collaborations with top-tier brands like JJJJound, Dime, Rapha, Louis Vuitton, Reigning Champ and Drake. Meredith launched his eponymous label in 2023, solidifying his status as a leader in experimental design.

About the inspiration for the collection, Meredith shares, “Running, adventure and experimental design have been my core interests for the past eight years. So when the opportunity arose to contribute to the gry^© line at Ciele, it was an immediate yes. The range we’ve created is trail-run-inspired and features funky, innovative concepts — some of which I’ve made as one-off creations for myself in the past. Others, like the thermo-regulating designs, the team and I developed together over Zoom. Collection highlights include reversible T-shirts, mesh pockets for drying sweaty accessories during long and/or cold runs, and wool/silk insulation. I’m excited to see this gear out in the world and on the trails. Thanks for having me, Ciele!”

The gry^© x COLIN MEREDITH collection includes five distinct pieces: the M MRCVest, the OLVShort, the UHTShirt – DIAMA, the RDCap SC – GRY CM and the UHBeanie DIAMA – GRY CM. The M MRCVest is designed to be a versatile second layer, made with a breathable and recycled outer shell and a wool-and-silk interior for exceptional warmth without the bulk. The OLVShort, made with COOLmatic | EXP™ and recycled nylon, was created with long runs in mind, featuring both interior and exterior pockets for fueling needs. The reversible, short-sleeve UHTShirt – DIAMA is designed for layering, with DIAMAfleece on one side for extra warmth and quicker-cooling fabrics on the other side for higher-intensity adventures. To top it off, the RDCap SC – GRY CM and UHBeanie DIAMA – GRY CM both feature lightweight COOLmatic | EXP™ micromesh for temperature regulation in mixed conditions.
