On Saturday, March 1, 2025, more than 600 ultra-runners will travel from around the globe to race in the 35th Annual Way Too Cool 50K Endurance Run Presented by Altra. The 50K race is known as one of the most popular Northern California spring trail and ultra-running endurance events in the U.S. Runners compete at elite levels to beat their personal and race record course times. Our inaugural 10-mile trail run is a fresh addition to the celebrated Way too Cool 50K, offering runners a shorter but still challenging course through the beautiful and rugged terrain of Northern California. With its infusion into the iconic ultra, the 10-mile race promises to draw both seasoned runners and newcomers looking for an inspiring trail adventure.

“Running an ultra takes an unbelievable amount of commitment and physical and mental perseverance,” says race director, Julie Fingar. “This race has continued to attract thousands of veteran and novice runners from all over the world to put their training to the test, cross that finish line, and potentially set a PR. The beautiful course, the challenging climbing and the outstanding trail community make this event one of the nation’s top 50K’s to compete.”

Starting at 8 a.m., women and men both in the 50K and 10M will put their months of training to the test and begin their journey (View WTC50K Race Video Here). Runners in the 10 Mile race are expected to cross the finish line between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and runners in the 50K from 11 A.M. – 4:30 P.M

The Way Too Cool Endurance Runs promises an amazing course with no two-way traffic, 98% single track trails, breathtaking scenery and views from the Secret Trail, enhanced spectator access, five well-stocked aid stations (50K course) two aid stations (10 Mile course) and timing mats at various locations on course with runner tracking. The race begins and finishes at the Cool Fire Station where runners can enjoy a post-race celebration in our Ultra Festival. The Ultra Festival will include an array of vendors surrounding a Beer Garden. Each finisher will be awarded their WTC Finisher’s Medallion, hand crafted with love in Foresthill, CA. In the Ultra Festival, each runner will receive a Way Too Cool 50K signature frog cupcake, runners can recover and get warm with a cup of homemade soup prepared by Chef and Ultra-Runner Tim Ruffino along with assorted Taco Tree burritos. It’s both a race and a celebration you won’t want to miss!

2025 race beneficiary is Protect American River Canyon (PARC).
