Lake Sonoma 100 Miler Nearly Full for Firefighters in Under a Month; Race Organizers now offering 50% Discount to Race Directors to Support Race Creators

September 11, 2024

Geyserville, CA — September 11, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – A decade in the making, the Lake Sonoma 100 Mile “Sufferfest” is nearly full for firefighters within a month of opening “Firefighters Run Free”. The race organization is offering the remaining 50-plus spots to race directors at a 50% discount. Why? So we don’t screw it up, Race Directors provide great feedback and we need this in our first year despite having the legend Tropical John Medinger on the race director team. This inaugural event, set for February 1st, 2025 will showcase firefighters, race directors, and runners eager for the first 100-mile race at Lake Sonoma. Over 80 brave firefighters will be running for free, thanks to Lake Sonoma’s commitment to supporting those who protect our cherished lands.

How is a first-year race able to do this?

Race directors of UltraSignup-listed endurance events will recieve a 50% discount on entry fees, thanks to UltraSignup. This initiative is supported by UltraSignup to encourage collaboration and mutual support within the trail running community. Tropical John Medinger is helping Race Direct the Lake Sonoma 100 Miler, and has been a Race Director since 1974. He knows runners will appreciate an early season hundred miler, especially one with 27,000 feet of vertical.

Additionally, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to pay for a firefighter’s race registration fees. The Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise will be managing the funds for this campaign, ensuring that every contribution goes directly toward enabling a firefighter to experience the challenge and camaraderie of the Lake Sonoma 100 Miler.

A $300 donation covers one firefighter’s entry fee, but any amount is appreciated. All proceeds from this charity event go to the Children of Vineyard Workers’ Scholarship Fund. Your contribution supports both the dedicated firefighters and the vineyard workers who are essential to Sonoma County. To contribute to the GoFundMe, please visit: #FirefighterRunFree

With limited spots remaining, prospective participants are encouraged to register soon to secure their place in this prestigious, community-focused, community-created, and community-supported race at LS100miler.com
