January 31, 2024
Limited to 500, the Oxford Athletic Club Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge will test participants’ full body endurance through a series of six fitness challenges.
PITTSBURGH /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – P3R has unveiled a new thrilling, adrenaline-pumping fitness challenge for the 2024 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events. Limited to 500, the Oxford Athletic Club Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge will test participants’ full body endurance through a series of six fitness challenges. These feats will include conquering the US Air Force’s 72-foot inflatable obstacle course, completing the Army’s new recruit obstacles such as the low crawl, pull-ups and sled drag, flipping tires with the Air National Guard and going through a full body weight workout zone. Details about each station along with other challenges will be revealed soon.
“We are thrilled about the expansion of race weekend to offer an exciting challenge for those who want to test their fitness and move with us in a different way,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “At P3R, we believe in creating experiences that go beyond the ordinary. The Oxford Athletic Club Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge is not just a race; it’s an adrenaline-pumping adventure, a test of full-body endurance, and a celebration of pushing boundaries. This, along with a soon to be announced inclusivity event, will complete our event offerings to truly allow any and all to move with us.”
The Oxford Athletic Club Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge will share the starting line of the fourth and final relay exchange zone of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon course. This downhill course will not only provide an opportunity for fitness fanatics to participate in a marathon weekend event, but will also create a more encouraging atmosphere during the final 4 miles of the iconic 26.2-mile marathon course. After conquering the six challenges, participants will cross the iconic official marathon weekend finish line on Boulevard of the Allies to earn their medal.
The addition of this event is designed to attract individuals who would like to challenge themselves outside of just running. P3R recognizes that desire and wants to provide a space where various skills are required to complete the course. Participants will register in staggered start times to allow ample space for individuals to complete each challenge.
“At Oxford Athletic Club, we believe in pushing boundaries and embracing diverse fitness experiences,” said Carolina Quiroga, President of Oxford Athletic Club. “Partnering with P3R for this new event allows us to inspire participants to move beyond the ordinary, empowering them to cross the finish line stronger than ever before.”
All Oxford Athletic Club Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge participants will receive an exclusive branded bib, shirt and medal. Opening day pricing starts at $54.99. For more information or to register, visit www.thePittsburghMarathon.com.
