‘HEALING’ | Cork Ironman to ‘take hiatus’ in 2024 after two competitors die in race

November 27, 2023

Ironman triathlon events will not take place in Cork next year following the deaths of two participants died during the Youghal race back in August. In a statement on Tuesday, the US organisation announced that both the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events “will take a hiatus” in 2024. This pause will allow for further healing while they spend the next year assessing the best path forward to deliver an exceptional weekend of racing once again for our athletes in one of the most passionate host communities in the world.
