Derby based boobydoo pledge to fit 1000 women with the best sports bras for them

October 12, 2023

Derby-based sports bra business boobydoo is set to launch a ‘Mega Fitting Event’ in which they will offer 1000 free sports bra fittings; with 50% of all sales profits going to the Girls Active programme of the Youth Sport Trust.

12th October 2023 – Derby, UK /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – boobydoo are the UK’s leading sports bra experts, offering fitting advice and education for active women, while providing access to some of the most popular sports bra brands, including Shock Absorber, Sportjock, Panache Sport and Freya Active. The choice of elite teams, athletes and the military, the boobydoo mission is simple – to provide all women with the support they need to tackle their exercise goals without having to worry about what their boobs are doing; promoting performance, comfort and confidence in sport.

Girls Active was established in 2013 by the Youth Sport Trust as a means of helping promote sport and physical activity for girls. Research conducted by the team has shown that by the age of seven, girls are already less active than boys, and this disparity only continues to widen as they get older. The Girls Active programme aims to tackle the negative attitudes that girls can have towards sport and body image, working with schools on their policies and practices to make PE and sport “more relevant to girls’ lives”.

The Mega Fitting Event celebrates the launch of boobydoo’s dedicated bra fitting facility, with the event held across two key blocks; the first in the autumn half term 30th October – 5th November 2023, and the second in the spring 19th – 25th February 2024, at boobydoo headquarters – Unit 12, Parker Centre Industrial Estate, Mansfield Road, Derby, DE21 4SZ.

Fitting appointments will be available to book as 1:1, group/team or virtual sessions via the boobydoo website, and will be hosted in the team’s modern and comfortable fitting room.

A typical 1:1 session lasts approximately 20 minutes, in which time the boobydoo expert team covers an individuals’ history, sporting and lifestyle goals and personal preferences, before offering some recommendations and product suggestions. The boobydoo team will be donating 50% of all profits made during the event to the Girls Active programme, and this will include all purchases made within 30 days of the Mega Fitting Event.

Charly Rhodes, Brand Manager at boobydoo, said:

“This is an especially exciting partnership for us at boobydoo, and we’re delighted to be teaming up with the team at the Youth Sport Trust. The Mega Fitting Event is something we have wanted to do for a long time, it’s a means of providing open access for anyone – individuals, clubs, teams, schools – to learn about the huge benefits of a properly fitting sports bra. This kind of education is lacking on the ‘high street’ and it’s really important to us to ensure we endorse the great educational resources and experiences available through our hugely experienced boobydoo team.”

Charly continues, “A well-fitting sports bra can absolutely transform an individual’s enjoyment of sport, and our goals align greatly with that of Girls Active – in making sport as enjoyable and accessible as possible for women and girls. This event looks to bridge the gap between the education available in top flight sport, and the mainstream population, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces to our smart new fitting room!”

Jen Rouse, Commercial and Fundraising Director at the Youth Sport Trust, said:

“We genuinely love what the team at Boobydoo are doing, and are very much looking forward to working with Charly and her team on this fantastic new initiative. At the Youth Sport Trust, we aim to tackle the negative attitudes that girls have towards their body image and help improve their attitude towards PE, sport and physical activity. We recognise that girls’ needs differ and change as they mature and research from our award winning Girls Active Programme shows that declining body confidence is one of the factors affecting girls participation in PE and sport.

We are proud to be helping girls to feel more comfortable and confident to fully engage in PE, Sport and Physical Activity through access to a good fitting sports bra”

About boobydoo

Boobydoo is the world’s leading authority on sports bras, providing women with the support they need to tackle their exercise goals without having to worry about their boobs.

When a woman exercises, her boobs move a lot. In fact, they can move up to 14cm. At boobydoo the team strives for the “no bounce policy”, to keep boobs comfortable, happy, and secure when working out.

Exercise-induced breast discomfort is a serious health issue, as it can act as a barrier to participating in physical activity, depriving women of the associated health benefits of being physically active. Sports bras are proven to reduce bounce by up to 83%, and yet 41% of women still don’t wear a sports bra to exercise, and 80% are wearing the wrong size bra to start with.

The boobydoo team is here to change these statistics and provide women with the education and choice they need to give their boobs some real support.

Over the past fifteen years they have curated the widest range of sizes and styles of sports bras in the world and a website that caters for bra sizes 28-54 band, A-K cup.

The boobydoo team is committed to supporting the community. Since boobydoo opened its doors, we have helped over 100,000 women find the perfect fit.

The more knowledge women have about their breasts and how they can support them, the more likely it is they stay active throughout school and adulthood. They commit to providing regular fitting events to the public and groups, and to make sports bra education accessible across their website and social platforms.
