Known for its spectacular sunsets, unbelievable views from the pier and charming life on Main Street, Frankfort, Michigan is a quaint lakeside town that offers a home away from home feel. The IRONMAN 70.3 Michigan triathlon swim start and finish are located next to the transition area on Betsie Bay which hosts the 1.2-mile swim. Once out of the water, athletes embark on a 56-bike ride that travels along legendary and historic highway M-22 and surrounding roads in beautiful Benzie County. To cap off the event, a 13.1-mile run is made up of two out and back loops that takes place on paved trails and roads around Betsie Bay. While on the flat and fast run course, athletes will be able to see and feel the energy from the transition area and finish line, which will provide an unforgettable experience on race day. The IRONMAN 70.3 Michigan race is truly a hidden gem on the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit.
In 2022, the IRONMAN 70.3 Michigan triathlon ranked high in the IRONMAN 70.3 Athletes’ Choice Awards. The event was voted Best Race Venue, 2nd Best Overall Race, 2nd Best Bike Course and 4th Best Finish Line.
