AUGUSTA, Maine / TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 21, 2023)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – IRONMAN and Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce have agreed to a three-year agreement to keep the IRONMAN® 70.3® Maine triathlon in Augusta, Maine through 2027. After relocating to its new venue in 2022, the event has become a popular bucket list event on the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit. Athletes continue to flock to the Kennebec Valley for its New England scenery and landscape hoping to cross the finish line at this unique IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon experience. Athletes will experience this rural New England course beginning with a swift 1.2-mile downriver swim in the Kennebec River, followed by a 56-mile ride through Maine’s beautiful farmland, and cap off their race with a 13.1-mile run along the river and through lively New England towns. The 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Maine triathlon will offer age group qualifying slots to the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon.
The 2023 edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Maine took place on Sunday, July 30, and featured more than 2,200 athletes. Giorgia Priarone (ITA) won the women’s professional race with a finishing time of 04:11:24, while Trevor Foley (USA) topped the podium in the men’s professional race with a time of 03:33:58.
