2023 City2Surf Returns This Weekend

August 8, 2023

/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – With just five days until the City2Surf returns the countdown is on as the world’s largest fun run gets ready to set the streets of Sydney alive with its sea of colour and party atmosphere.

This Sunday, more than 75,000 people will line up for this world-famous event and take on the iconic 14km course from the city’s CBD to Bondi Beach, where finishers, friends and family will continue the party as they celebrate the day’s achievements.

For 53 years the City2Surf has brought people of all ages, abilities and walks of life together to enjoy being active and revel in all that is great about Sydney.

Amongst the party, giving back to charity has become the beating heart of the event. Since 2008, City2Surf participants have raised over $52 million for charities in need. Already in 2023, over $1.5 million has been donated and with a week to go that tally is set to rise further, with $3 million this year’s target.

Martin Mashford, Regional Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, organisers of the City2Surf, said he’s delighted to see tens of thousands of runners return for the 2023 event.

“It’s amazing to have over 75,000 people already entered for the City2Surf and we can’t wait to see them all take on the 14km course from the CBD to Bondi Beach next Sunday and we look forward to seeing everyone achieve their personal goals,” said Mashford.

“Race day brings an atmosphere like no other to the streets of Sydney. Whether you’re a runner hoping to set a new PB, a walker raising vital dollars for charities in need, or party animal planning to dance the course in your best fancy dress, the City2Surf really is an event for everyone.

“Registrations remain open until 5pm on Saturday 12 August, so it’s not too late to get entry in and be a part of this iconic event,” he said.
