Trevor Foley (USA) and Giorgia Priarone (ITA) Top The Competition At 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Maine Triathlon

- Over 1,800 athletes converged Maine’s Capital City for IRONMAN 70.3 Maine triathlon - IRONMAN 70.3 Maine triathlon played host to the North American TriClub Championship – Northeast - Live coverage of Sunday’s event was broadcast on Outside TV as the eighth of 12 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon stops throughout 2023 season

AUGUSTA, Maine/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Maine’s State Capital and scenic Kennebec County played host to the 2023 edition of IRONMAN® 70.3® Maine triathlon, North American TriClub Championship – Northeast. The event saw Trevor Foley (USA) put in blistering fast splits across the swim, bike and run to capture the overall victory with a time of 3:33:54, while in the women’s race, Giorgia Priarone (ITA) delivered a dominant performance on the run to secure the win with a finishing with a time of 4:11:24. In depth race coverage was shown live on Outside TV, and was the eighth in a series of 12 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events from across globe to broadcast exclusively on the platform. Finishing behind Foley in second place in the men’s race was Gregory Barnaby (ITA) who finished with a time of 3:39:17, while Justin Metzler (USA) claimed the third spot on the podium with a time of 3:45:17, after Matthew Sharpe (CAN) received a disqualification due to a rule infringement.

In the professional women’s race, Amy Cymerman (USA) took second behind Priarone with a time of 4:16:51, while Nicole Falcaro (USA) secured third place and her first professional podium placement with a time of 4:18:24.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Maine triathlon, North American TriClub Championship – Northeast saw more than 1,800 athletes start the race, which included competitors from 28 countries, regions, and territories, and 47 states on Sunday, July 30. Athletes began their IRONMAN 70.3-mile journey with a top 5 Athlete Choice Award winning downriver, point-to-point 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, one of the fastest on the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit. After transitioning, athletes embarked on a 56-mile bike course that was positioned perfectly in the Kennebec River Valley. The bike course moves south along the Kennebec River and has a mix of adventurous climbs and swooping descents through the rural towns of Maine. Athletes capped off their race with a 13.1-mile run along the canopy tree-lined Kennebec River Rail Trail finishing in downtown Augusta. The 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Maine triathlon offered 40 Age Group Qualifying slots 2024 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on December 14&15, 2024 in Taupō, New Zealand.
