USA Triathlon Aligns with Nix Biosensors as Official Hydration Sensor Partner

January 18, 2023

Innovative new wearable product analyzes an athlete’s sweat and delivers a personal hydration strategy.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – USA Triathlon today announced a partnership with Nix Biosensors as the organization’s Official Hydration Sensor Partner through 2024.

Nix Biosensors produces a wearable that analyzes an athlete’s sweat and prescribes a personal hydration strategy, delivered to an athlete’s phone, watch or bike computer (coming soon) in real time to tell athletes when, what and how much to drink, ensuring athletes stay properly hydrated.

“About 80 percent of endurance athletes cross the finish line mildly dehydrated,” said Meridith Cass, CEO and Founder of Nix. “This is because drinking to thirst prompts athletes to replenish only about half of the fluids they’ve lost – and suffer a performance impairment up to 29% as a result. We believe the solution lies in a biosensor that quantifies their fluid and electrolyte losses in real-time. Teaming up with USA Triathlon is the perfect way to introduce this technology to some of the most passionate endurance athletes in the world — the people who need to understand their hydration needs, before, during, and after a race, in the simplest and most actionable way possible.”

“We see Nix Biosensor’s product as a game-changer in the world of endurance sports,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO. “Triathlon is known for its innovation, and Nix Biosensors delivers with a new product that will be an essential tool for every multisport athlete looking to perform at their best.”

Nix Biosensors is the presenting partner of USA Triathlon’s annual National Triathlon Week, a nationwide social media initiative taking place every June that celebrates the sport of triathlon and the entire community of age group athletes, coaches, race directors, clubs, officials, elite athletes and elite paratriathletes.
