Team MPI Expands Coaching Staff

Team MPI adds Sydney Buckley to coaching staff and promotes Becky Piper to Senior Staff member.

Boise, ID (January 2023) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Team MPI is proud to add Sydney Buckley to its coaching staff. Based in Cheyanne, WY, Coach Sydney brings more than 20 years of swimming expertise to Team MPI.

As a swimmer, Sydney was a Colorado State Champion, a Colorado state record holder, and an All-American. Coach Sydney swam for the NCAA Division I University of North Texas. She qualified for National Invite and Conference USA championships.

“We are committed to having the best coaches in the endurance sports world on our team. Sydney raises the bar in every way,” exclaimed Team MPI owner and founder Mark Sortino. “I’m excited to have the best swim, bike, and run specialists working for our athletes.”

Sydney brings coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level, coaching at UNT. She also served as the head coach for the Colorado Torpedos swim program. Sydney has a positive, enthusiastic attitude that inspires even the most intimidated swimmer.

Additionally, Team MPI is celebrating Coach Becky Piper’s promotion to Senior Coach. “The Senior Coaches bring a depth of knowledge and experience about coaching and endurance sports,” Sortino explained. “These are voices of experience, wisdom, and leadership in our industry and in Team MPI.”

Coach Becky offers a wealth of knowledge and personal experience, particularly in the area of coaching para-athletes. As a para triathlete and para cyclist, Becky is the 2018 USA Cycling Para National Champion in both road and TT and was 2nd place in the Female Para Division at IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder in 2017.
