September 20, 2022
The $2 million-plus raised over the past 12 months more than doubles the previous 12-month record and is more than the combined total raised between 2014, the year the Foundation was established, and 2020.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo./ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The USA Triathlon Foundation has raised more than $2 million over the past 12 months from nearly 3,000 individual supporters across the United States.
The $2 million-plus raised over the past 12 months more than doubles the previous 12-month record and is more than the combined total raised between 2014, the year the Foundation was established, and 2020. The number of donors has also more than tripled since 2020. The collective multisport community allows the USA Triathlon Foundation to expand its mission of swim, bike and run for all.
This community-changing impact has been led by a number of individuals and organizations who are supporting the Foundation at an unprecedented level.
“Empowering and enabling people to discover, participate and develop in the sport who otherwise may not have the opportunity – that provides a reward that’s not only fulfilling but also personal,” said Stephen Ban, Chair of the USA Triathlon Foundation Board of Trustees. “The Foundation gives all of us the chance to bring people into the lifestyle that defines us all as multisport athletes. And the work being done by the Foundation is truly making a life-changing impact for so many across our country.”
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the charitable arm of USA Triathlon. Since its establishment in 2014, the organization has impacted the lives of thousands by providing grants to organizations and individuals in pursuit of its mission and pillars to create a healthier United States through triathlon.
All gifts directly support the Foundation’s top fundraising priorities:
- Encouraging youth participation
- Inspiring adaptive athletes
- Igniting the dreams of Olympic/Paralympic hopefuls
- CEO Excellence Fund
“We cannot impact the sport and our multisport communities the way we want to without the generosity of our donors, and our supporters have taken our philanthropic efforts to another level,” said Dr. Gabe Cagwin, President and Chief Advancement Officer of the USA Triathlon Foundation. “We are able to provide youth, particularly from underrepresented areas, adaptive athletes, and our Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls with the opportunities and resources they need to be successful in our sport.”
