1,800 mountain bikers take on new, challenging course on Minnesota’s North Shore
Lutsen, Minn., (June 26, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2022 Stages Cycling Lutsen 99er presented by Life Time (NYSE: LTH) welcomed a field of 1,800 riders to the Lutsen Mountains on Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior on Saturday. The event hosts four distances: 25, 49, 69 and signature 99-miles as well as kids and juniors events. Cyclists travel through the beautiful Sawtooth Mountains, cross over the Poplar River overlooking majestic Lake Superior, and over ridgelines made of glacially sculpted terrain of rolling hills along the southern range of the Boreal Forest. Life Time welcomed riders ages one (in the ‘Little Niners’) to 72 years of age from 36 states and 5 countries at the event.
“This year’s event saw significant course changes due to mother nature that made the race more epic – and more challenging – than previous years, and our athletes were all in on it,” said Peter Spencer, Event Manager at Life Time. “The Lutsen 99er is special because the focus isn’t so much on the winners or finish times as it is on the adventure of the ride. It was another great year doing what we love, together.”
