Mexico’s second largest city hosts the 4th edition
/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Ford GFNY Monterrey offers riders a 137km course with an elevation gain of 1549m and a hilltop finish on iconic Chipinque. This year’s race will start on Macroplaza which true to its name is the world’s fifth largest plaza.
“We’re excited to be back in Monterrey,” says Shaun Gad, co-founder of GFNY Mexico. “The city of Monterrey has always been a great host to GFNY and this year is no exception. The red carpet will be rolled out yet again for all riders to BE A PRO FOR A DAY®. ”
Race week activities will take place at the Cintermex convention centre. It includes the fun Ford GFNY Monterrey warm up group ride on Saturday in Huasteca where riders get to do a relaxed ride together with friends and competitors.
The first part of the race is mostly flat combined with some rolling hills, initially through the heart of Monterrey on fully closed roads. The main challenge of the day will be the final climb to the finish on top of iconic Chipinque which is a natural reserve and fully closed to GFNY racers. It has an average gradient of 6% and is peaking at a whopping 19%.
