Title Nine Announces Fourth Annual Pitchfest Outdoor Edition
June 22, 2021
Finalists attend two-day experience focused on mentorship, community, and entrepreneurship
Emeryville, Calif, June 22, 2021 — — Title Nine, the adventure and outdoor apparel retailer that encourages women to risk, lead and own, is proud to announce its fourth-annual Pitchfest Outdoor Edition. The pitchfest is a campaign to find entrepreneurial women who want to pitch their brand, tell their story, and show their innovative products, in the hopes of winning a coveted spot as a Title Nine Mover and Maker, and to have their products sold at Title Nine.
“For over thirty years we’ve made it our mission to encourage women to take risks in business, sport, and life,” said Missy Park, founder and CEO of Title Nine. “Participating in a pitchfest requires courage and vulnerability and in many ways, it’s the ultimate risk to present your entire entrepreneurial vision to a panel of judges. We are so honored to host another year of our event where we can support, empower, and connect the next generation of business leaders in a safe and uplifting environment.”
After three years of competition and connection, Title Nine’s pitchfest boasts an impressive line up of alumni including Mina Yoo and Heroclip; Cassie Abel and Wild Rye; and Amelia Leme and Mana Threads. Pitchfest also hosts some of the most recognizable women leaders in the industry to serve as mentors and judges at the event like Sally Bergesen, Founder & CEO of Oiselle and Jen Gurecki, CEO of Coalition Snow.
The Pitchfest Outdoor Edition application is currently open and will close July 1, 2021. Women entrepreneurs in the outdoors and active lifestyle gear, apparel and accessories spaces, who have not worked with Title Nine previously, are encouraged to apply. Submissions take the form of written and video entries, and applicants are challenged to share a time they learned from a failure. Finalists will be announced July 23, 2021. Finalists are invited to attend Pitchfest itself on September 24th, 2021, at Title Nine’s headquarters in Emeryville, CA.
A day before the event, Pitchfest finalists will participate in a full-day of workshops aimed at creating community between finalists and current Title Nine Movers and Makers; offering insights into business strategies; providing support and advice for common difficulties women face in retail; and providing DEI (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion) consulting to help each finalist advance their business.
In addition to finalist pitches, the Pitchfest featuresteam workouts, a Q & A with Title Nine CEO Missy Park, a panel featuring renowned women entrepreneurs, and women-led vendors offering food and beverage. Winners will be announced on September 24th, 2021. Each winner will receive mentorship from Title Nine founder Missy Park and other women business leaders. Additionally, the winning brands will receive a purchase order from Title Nine, a catalog feature, and their products will be featured and sold on titlenine.com and through Title Nine’s social media outlets.
Title Nine held its first Pitchfest Nonprofit Edition in May 2021, awarding nine finalists in the respective fields of reproductive rights, politics and leadership, and sports and outdoor programs, with varying grants, access to a supportive community, and the opportunity to amplify their mission through Title Nine’s networks.
