The XTERRA Olympic Canyon VR Duathlon powered by Gatorade Endurance, to be held over five days from September 24-28, 2020, is the fourth of eight virtual races designed to engage the endurance community as they train to stay sane, healthy, and positive.

HONOLULU, HI (Sept. 24, 2020) – The XTERRA Olympic Canyon VR Duathlon powered by Gatorade Endurance, to be held over five days from September 24-28, 2020, is the fourth of eight virtual races designed to engage the endurance community as they train to stay sane, healthy, and positive.

Inspired by Utah, home to the XTERRA USA Championships and 2002 Winter Olympics, participants are encouraged to dig deep and go far in a “Rush for Gold” – an ode to Utah’s Olympic pedigree and its adventurous railroad history that fueled dozens of great gold rushes in canyons around the state.

“While our traditional September off-road triathlon and trail run national championship races in Utah were put on hold this year due to COVID-19, XTERRA athletes are still out there training and pushing through these uncertain times,” said XTERRA President, Janet Clark.  “Fun, re-imagined events like this inspire us all to stay motivated and we’re grateful for the support of our partners at Gatorade Endurance for supporting the initiative.”

Race entry into the XTERRA Olympic Canyon VR Duathlon is free, and the challenge combines a 5K run with a 24K bike and 10K run.  There is also a Sprint race featuring a 2K run, 14K bike, and 5K run.  Both can be completed by individuals or 2-3 person relay teams, and participants can complete the distances all at one time or over the course of five days from September 24-28.

The event is a benefit for the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah who plan, promote, construct, and protect public pathways and trails throughout the area including portions of XTERRA’s courses.

XTERRA VR participants receive a personalized digital XTERRA Passport to collect commemorative stamps from each race and display on their Instagram or Facebook stories.  XTERRA will recognize the top 25 in each division – men, women, and team through leaderboards updated as results are posted and authenticated. Final results will be published on September 29, 2020.
