Title Nine Announces Third Annual Movers and Makers Pitchfest
July 1, 2020
Finalists attend two-day experience focused on mentorship, community, and entrepreneurship
Emeryville, Calif, July 1, 2020 – Title Nine, the adventure and outdoor apparel retailer that encourages women to risk, lead and own, is proud to announce its third-annual Movers and Makers Pitchfest. The Pitchfest is a campaign to find entrepreneurial women who want to pitch their brand, tell their story, and show their innovative products, in the hopes of winning a coveted spot as a Title Nine Mover and Maker, and to have their products sold at Title Nine.
“In a year of unique retail struggles, we are so proud to be able to offer support and opportunity for women entrepreneurs” said Missy Park, founder and CEO of Title Nine. “Our Movers and Makers Pitchfest is designed to empower and elevate women by providing a network of strong, resilient women mentors as a resource, and also by hosting an event that pulls back the curtain on how to be successful. We want our pitchfest to provide a platform and community for the next generation of diverse and driven businesswomen.”
The Movers and Makers Pitchfest submissions deadline has been extended through July 9, 2020, and is available to female entrepreneurs in the outdoors and active lifestyle gear, apparel and accessories spaces, who have not worked with Title Nine or other retailers previously. Submissions take the form of written and video entries, and applicants are challenged to share a time they learned from a failure. Finalists will be announced August 2020. Finalists are invited to attend Pitchfest itself on September 25th, 2020, at Title Nine’s headquarters in Emeryville, CA.
A day before the event, Pitchfest finalists will participate in a full-day workshop aimed at creating community between finalists and a support system with Title Nine Movers and Makers; offering insights into business strategies; providing support and advice for common difficulties women face in retail; and providing DEI (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion) consulting to help each finalist advance their own businesses.
The Movers and Makers Pitchfest features a team workout, a talk and Q & A with Title Nine CEO Missy Park, a panel featuring renowned female entrepreneurs and businesswomen, women-run vendors offering food and beverage, and the presentations by finalists. Winners will be announced on September 25th, 2020. Each winner will receive mentorship from Title Nine founder Missy Park and other female business leaders. Additionally, the winning brands will receive a purchase order from Title Nine, a catalog feature, and their products will be featured and sold on titlenine.com and through Title Nine’s social media outlets.
For the first time since its inception, Title Nine will be livestreaming the Movers and Makers Pitchfest. In the event COVID-19 concerns and local protocols prohibit a large gathering, the entire event will be held digitally with real-time pitches and winner announcements being broadcast live.
The winners of 2019’s Movers and Makers Pitchfest include Mina Yoo and Heroclip; Amelia Leme and Mana Threads; Cassie Abel and Wild Rye.
