Zoot Sports, USA Triathlon Foundation Announce ‘Zoot One Forward’ Project

Carlsbad, CA –  Zoot Sports, the global industry leader in Triathlon Apparel and Accessories, in conjunction with the USA Triathlon Foundation, proudly launches the “Zoot One Forward” Project. For every item sold in the new Zoot Face Covering Collection, Zoot will donate another face mask to a USA Triathlon-sanctioned triathlon event for the use by staff and volunteers.

“We know race directors are going to be challenged in this ‘new normal’ and we felt strongly that we needed to raise our hand to do all we can,” says Shawn O’Shea, Zoot President. “We are happy to do our part to help get our athletes back out on the racecourse. Wearing a face covering is one step we can all take to help protect each other.”

The donated face coverings will be made from remnant fabric normally sent to landfills. Printing mistakes, overruns, samples, or leftovers are used to create each Zoot Donation Mask, giving every ‘one-size-fits-most’ piece a unique feel. O’Shea adds, “This is a great opportunity to help the environment and the sport of triathlon at the same time.”

The first 5,000 face coverings will be delivered to the USA Triathlon Foundation, which will provide them to the 40 recent grant recipients of its COVID-19 Relief Fund. This includes certified race directors and event production companies, coaches, clubs and multisport organizations who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic.

“The USA Triathlon Foundation is excited to partner with Zoot Sports and their “Zoot One Forward” program,” said Dave Deschenes, Executive Director, USA Triathlon Foundation. “We have worked with the team at Zoot for the past couple of years and when they approached us with the mask program, it immediately aligned with our values and current initiatives. Through the Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund program we will provide over $110,000 in grant funding to support those in the multisport community who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.”

The “Zoot One Forward” Project centers around Zoot’s newly launched face covering line, including the Face Mask, the Custom Face Mask, and the Cooling Neck Sleeve. All items are currently available for purchase.
