Registration Open for Alexandria’s Picturesque Destination Race

February 6, 2020 – (Alexandria, VA.)– Pacers Running today announced that PNC Bank, N.A. will be the title sponsor of the PNC Parkway Classic. The Alexandria hometown destination centric race, will take place on Sunday, April 26. The race in its 36th year draws over 8,000 runners and spectators throughout the DC Metro region and beyond.

Voted a favorite and picturesque race by Run Washington Magazine, the Parkway Classic starts at the beautiful Mount Vernon Estate and takes runners down the tree-lined namesake Parkway to another of George’s destinations – charming Old Town Alexandria.

The event features two distances to choose from (10 Miler or 5K) as well as a Kids Dash that features pre-race family friendly activities.New this year is the 5K course route that starts at Oronoco Bay Park and loops through beautiful OldTown, Alexandria. Race participants will be treated to a post race Finish Festival at Oronoco Bay Park with live music, a Port City Brewing Company pop-up beer garden and other activities to celebrate their accomplishment.

This year, the race is pleased to have the Washington Nationals Racing President George Washington at the finish line cheering runners and celebrating at the Finish Festival.

This year’s race charity partners include: Boys and Girls Club of Alexandria, Rebuilding Together DC/Alexandria and Together We Bake.

Since its inception, the PNC Parkway Classic has raised close to one million dollars for local and regional charities, including the Boys and Girls Club of Alexandria.
