Monterey Bay Half Marathon Launches Ambassador Program for 2020 Race

Applications are now being accepted for the race’s inaugural ambassador team

CARMEL, CA. – The Big Sur Marathon Foundation is launching their first-ever Ambassador Program for the Monterey Bay Half Marathon, recently named the “Best Half Marathon in California” by RaceRaves. The organization is seeking enthusiastic runners who are familiar with or excited about promoting the 2020 Monterey Bay Half Marathon and who identify with their nonprofit mission to “create beautiful running events that promote health and benefit our community.” Applications are being accepted now through February 14, 2020.

Selected ambassadors will help cultivate community around the Monterey Bay Half Marathon brand through a number of efforts, including utilizing social media and hosting community events. The nonprofit organization is seeking individuals to perpetuate a positive, inclusive, inspiring culture and help sustain race registration goals.

Last summer, the organization launched its inaugural Ambassador Program for its flagship race, the Big Sur International Marathon, to an overwhelming response. The Big Sur Marathon Foundation aims to build upon the existing program’s successes with the advent of the Monterey Bay Half Marathon Program.

“As a nonprofit race organization, we’re always looking for ways to extend our local impact to the running community at large,” said Hillary Fujii, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Big Sur Marathon Foundation. “We’ve really enjoyed watching our Big Sur Ambassadors interact with and build upon our community of engaged, inspiring runners, and we can’t wait to cultivate that same sense of camaraderie among our Monterey Bay Half Marathon fans.”

Individuals with strong demonstrable skills in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: social media/blogging, content creation (video/photo), community outreach, group recruitment, involvement in running clubs or other health-focused social groups. All applicants must be able to commit to active participation from March 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021 and be available to attend the 2020 Monterey Bay Half Marathon on November 15, 2020.

Big Sur Marathon Ambassadors will receive a number of year-round benefits, including:

• Free entry into the 2020 Monterey Bay Half Marathon on November 15th
• Invitation to the Friday night kick-off reception
• Monterey Bay Half Marathon swag mailed periodically during your term
• Sponsor gifts
• Social media exposure on Monterey Bay Half Marathon channels

Ambassadors will not receive a discount code for promotional purposes based on the marketing guidelines of the organization. Instead, Ambassadors will receive a unique referral link. Performance will also be evaluated based on visibility in their communities, both digital and physical, as well as quality of work and time committed.
