7th Edition of GFNY Cozumel to welcome over 2000 riders

Amidst strict COVID-19 precautions, riders are ready to take on the GFNY North American Championship.

NEW YORK CITY, November 5, 2020 – The team of GFNY Cozumel in Mexico has been taking a number of precautions to ensure riders are kept safe in the lead up to race day this Sunday 8^th November.

An ongoing pandemic is not all that has tried to stand in the way of the 7^th GFNY Cozumel. The idyllic island has also had to battle three hurricanes this season, the last of which was just ten days ago. Cozumel undertook a massive effort to make sure that the famous championship course is as pristine as ever.

The championship two 85-mile course is two loops of the island. The non-competitive medium 40-mile route is one loop around the island.

Throughout race weekend GFNY Cozumel is taking a number of precautions to keep GFNY riders, staff and volunteers safe at packet pickup and during the expo. Measures include social distancing, modifying aspects of the flow and entrance to prevent congregations of people and limiting touch points to minimize contamination from surfaces.

GFNY Cozumel will serve as the 2020-2021 GFNY North American Championship. The top 20% of finishers in each age group will start in the qualifier corral at all GFNY’s for the next 380 days.

Overall Champions (male & female) of the North American Championship will win flights, hotel and entry to GFNY World Championship NYC 2021.

GFNY World Championship NYC

The 10th annual GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 16, 2021. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. Athletes take on a challenging 100-mile route from NYC to Bear Mountain to Fort Lee to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.
