October 1, 2020
[DALLAS] – Today the Board of Directors and Staff of the BMW Dallas Marathon announced the postponement and new date of the running of the 50th Anniversary of the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival, from December 11-13, 2020 to the weekend of April 30 – May 2, 2021, along with the introduction of the new BMW Pegasus 50th Challenge.
“Given the current environment and restrictions associated with COVID-19, we are unable to host the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival, the longest running marathon in Texas, in a manner that our participants and guests have come to expect and enjoy from our organization” said Paul Lambert, President of runDallas. “While we are disappointed in postponing to May, we are very excited to announce today that we have created the new BMW Pegasus 50th Challenge, and that one lucky participant will win a special edition 2021 BMW Automobile, to be drawn at the start line of the marathon on Sunday, May 2nd.”
The BMW Pegasus 50th Challenge is comprised of two 50th Anniversary themed events, the new 2020 Virtual BMW Dallas Marathon in December (5 event distances to choose from) and the 50th Anniversary of the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival in May (10 race distances to select from). Runners and walkers who participate in both events will receive unique 50th themed amenities specific to each event, plus bonus apparel and double their chance of winning the BMW car. Both 50th Anniversary events will support the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
For the fifth year, DFW BMW Dealers are the proud title partners of the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival and supporter of the first-class medical services provided by the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. As a continued commitment to providing the ultimate experience with safety in mind, they are delivering an all-new 2021 BMW Automobile for the 50th Anniversary celebration. All registered runners and walkers will have a chance to win the special edition car.
